At WTS volunteers are the heart and soul of our tutoring and mentoring program, and we could not be more appreciative of this outstanding contribution of time, talent, good humor and patience.
The Corporation for National and Community Service shares that in 2013, one in four adults volunteered through an organization, demonstrating that volunteering remains an important activity for millions of Americans. In 2013, 62.6 million Americans volunteered nearly 7.7 billion hours, with the estimated value of this volunteer service totaling nearly $173 billion. Two of the top volunteer activities included tutoring and teaching youth (18 percent) and mentoring youth (17.3 percent).
Currently over 320 WTS mentors are matched with students at 12 schools in California and Texas. Our volunteers come from over 20 companies and reside in over 30 states… And our community continues to grow!
WTS would like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to our incredible volunteer mentor team. Your contribution to the community is outstanding and we truly appreciate you and all that you do! In the words of a student participating in the WTS program at San Leandro High School:
“Thank you for helping me and for staying with me when I struggled with equations and other things. You’ve been the best mentor I’ve ever had.”
