“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan

For the past month I have had the pleasure of mentoring a past student of mine at We Teach Science that is now enrolled in icouldbe.org, an email mentoring organization. After two years with WTS, students at San Leandro are passed on to icouldbe for another year of mentoring with their same mentor.

I was presented with this quote from Michael Jordan on their website and found it incredibly moving.

Don’t be afraid to fail! At We Teach Science, our mentors encourage their students to explore math without fear of failure – just imagine that!
