At We Teach Science, our mentors are always looking for opportunities to share the relevance of science and math in the real world.

Fireworks are wondrous products that beautifully mix physics and chemistry to the delight of our senses. Check out this article on the Science and Chemistry behind fireworks.

Consider exploring the article with children in your life and ask the “what if” questions like:

  • Would fireworks work on the moon?
  • How much higher would a firework go if Earth had half it’s gravity?
  • How could you measure the speed of sound using fireworks?

Wishing you all a safe and wondrous 4th of July!
